How to declutter your coffee mugs in 15 minutes or less

Many of us harbor collections of coffee mugs that resemble souvenir stores with schizophrenia. World’s Best Grandma slides up next to Garfield. Santa’s reindeer rub elbows with the American flag. And a freebie from the 5K we ran last fall clinks against our fine china.

It’s a mess.

And really, nobody is drinking from all these mugs.

You only have two hands and one mouth, after all.

Today’s simplicity tip will help you get real about your warm beverage needs and give you some breathing room in those kitchen cupboards to boot!

Here are 4 simple steps to help you declutter your mugs in 15 minutes or less:

  1. Take all–yes ALL–your mugs out of the cupboard and line them up.
  2. Think about the mugs you LIKE. What do they have in common? For me, mug preference has a lot to do with size. (Yes, this is one case where size really does matter, ha!) I like a big mug. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. 😉
  3. Separate the men from the boys. Put your faves in one pile and your unloveds in another. Yes, I know this hurts. But coffee mugs don’t have feelings so it’s okay.
  4. Donate those B-Team mugs pronto. Somebody else will love them and you will have more space in your cupboards. That’s what I call a win-win!

Worried you’ll regret decluttering a mug or two? Good news! Coffee mugs are cheap! With a few bucks, you can easily replace any mugs you regret donating, although I highly, highly doubt that will happen.

This simple tip will bring you one step closer to less stuff and more simplicity. Cheers to that!

To less stuff and more you…
