As many of you know, I recently published my 2nd book, Achievement Addict: The Overachiever’s 12-Step Guide to Peace, Presence, and a Life Beyond Doing.
The response to the book has been incredibly heartwarming for me. Readers have told me how it’s helped them recognize their true needs (spoiler alert: no one’s true need is “get everything done”) and learn to be kinder and gentler to themselves. I even had one reader tell me that she gives my book as her stock high school graduation gift!
I’m so honored to know that my book is doing good work out in the world. Personally, I find myself daily returning to the book’s lessons as I try to navigate this political campaign without overworking myself. (It’s a challenge!)
I’ve also been blessed to have several podcasters express interest in the book. I recently sat down for two thoughtful interviews that I thought you all might be interested in.
Do Happy Work
My friends Olivier and Vira host the Do Happy Work podcast where they challenge the traditional definition of “work.” They believe we have embraced Sad Work as the norm, which has led us to view stress, anxiety, failure, and competition as an inevitable part of our work lives. On the podcast, Olivier and Vira encourage a different approach to work: the creation of human value that leads to happy work and happy workplaces. You can listen to our interview here. It’s a good one!
Earn & Invest
My friend Doc G hosts the “Earn & Invest” podcast, where he talks about financial things… and way, way more. In this episode, we talk about the trap of trying to build our sense of self worth through achieving goals and how this is not the quickest path to happiness. I’ve been on Doc G’s podcast a few times, and I always LOVE his thoughtful questioning approach. You can catch the episode here.
I hope these two podcast episodes give your ears a treat as you go about your summer.
As always, I’m cheering for you to live your simplest, most decluttered, and happiest life.
